According to the latest Expat City Ranking 2024 by InterNations, and reported by Forbes, Valencia has been named the best city in the world to live in.
The annual study surveyed more than 12,500 expatriates across 53 cities in 35 countries, evaluating destinations based on quality of life, ease of settling in, personal finance, working abroad, and essential services. In 2024, Valencia reclaimed the top global position, reaffirming its international appeal.
Having ranked first in 2022 and third in 2023, Valencia returns to number one thanks to its exceptional balance of lifestyle, affordability, and wellbeing. The city ranks #1 worldwide for quality of life, with expats highlighting affordable public transport, extensive leisure opportunities, and outstanding personal safety. Mediterranean beaches, a mild year-round climate, renowned gastronomy, and a welcoming atmosphere further define its appeal.
Notably, 27% of expatriates moved to Valencia specifically in search of a better quality of life — underlining the strength of lifestyle-driven relocation.
Spain also dominates the ranking overall, with Valencia in first place, followed by Malaga and Alicante, reinforcing the country’s position as one of the world’s most attractive destinations for living and investment.
